  1. Literacy Strategies Group The original and the best...

  2. Revision, Study and Feedback... • Based on the feedback we received from last session, we have dedicated this session to revision. • This was raised because of the importance of testing and examinations in the senior school but also links closely to the demands on middle school students. • Helping students become metacognitive at any year level is the goal.

  3. Student Feedback Ways to gather student feedback? • Exit Slips • Surveys (See the learning intervention Word document in this folder. It was created by BGA) • On Demand Testing/Spa, etc. See the GWSC wiki for more information about how to access this data. • Questions to ask • What type of information do you want? • What do you do with this information? • What sort of learner are they? • http://quizilla.teennick.com/quizzes/7073446/what-type-of-learner-are-you-extreamly-accurate-results-will-help-you-learn-in-life

  4. Individual Revision- Senior School • Promoting metacognition...what works for them? Incorporate reflections as part of your SAC. • Glossary Tasks • Bingo Boards • Vocabulary Activities (see the literacy folder for suggestions) • Mini-Quiz/Exams (Quizlet.com) • Give them the topic- have them come up with questions. • Podcasts- time for students to recap on what they are doing? MLO and GBA have been using this in their classes. See them for more information.

  5. Revision Tools • http://getrevising.co.uk/register Create your own revision timetable (Handy for exams and busy periods.) • http://www.mindomo.com/ Mind mapping tool. This allows you to add videos and photos to your mind maps.

  6. Language of Assessment • Modelling responses (exams, test, pracs, assessments). • Coding text (highlighting key words) • Exam Techniques and hints (LFE made a PPT for her students. I have attached it to this file ) • Glossary of key terms (see the Science Faculty responses. I have attached this to this file)
