An introduction The Future of Work consists of three elements:
Element 1. Bricks The infrastructure of the workplace
Element 2. Bites ICT-facilities like intranet, laptop and smartphone
Element 3. Behaviour The behaviour of the employees
The Future of Work in the Netherlands 5 elements for a successful Future of Work: Work is time and place independent The focus is on managing the end results and not controlling process More need for clear (digital) information and knowledge sharing Based on flexible labour relations and less contact moments Less visible hierarchy
Advantages Substantial cut down on expenses for accommodation and energy. More job satisfaction for employees Higher productivity due to time savings Less traffic jams Easy accessibility
Disadvantages Not suitable for all kind of jobs and employees Disrupted work-life balance Decrease in employee loyalty Work stations at home are (often) unsuitable (EHS) HRM: Difficult to manage employees performance and output
