  2. It is a Governor’s appointment • Fill out an Online Application at:http://gov.ca.gov/m_appointments.php • They review your background • Then interview with the Governor’s Office.

  3. This will help: • Use current resume or statement of qualifications • Document your leadership roles in organizations and professional life • Decide which representative position on the Council fits your experience best • Talk with members of the Council or attend a Council meeting

  4. Some questions on the application: • Work Experience • Education • Residency • Taxes • Military experience

  5. About the position: • Full-Term will last 3 years • Attend 2-day quarterly meetings • Travel is required (travel, lodging and per diem are reimbursed) • Materials must be read and evaluated prior to meetings • Meet with your Regional District Administrator

  7. Who are we looking for? • Disability advocacy group (1 position) • Business, industry or labor (3 positions) • Parent/Training Information Center • California Workforce Investment Board • Statewide Independent Living Council

  8. The SRC’s Role: • Influence policy for people with disabilities • Review, evaluate and advise DOR on overall program performance • Review and evaluate DOR’s State Plan • Provide input on Needs Assessment for vocational rehabilitation and supported employment programs, and Consumer Satisfaction Survey

  9. Some SRC Successes: • Improved Soft Skills Training for DOR consumers • Started the “Adopt A District Program” to improve services at the local level • Improved partnerships with employers
