The Domestic Program • He does not get Congress to agree to all he wants • does get an increase in min. wage, extension in Soc. Sec. benefits and improvements in the welfare system • President’s Commission on the Status of Women • Equal Pay Act: required equal wages for equal work in industries involved in commerce (interstate commerce) • 1964 Congress will prohibit discrimination by employers based on race, color, religion, national origin or sex
