Coordination Efforts - FDOT • Initiated coordination with FDOT • Conducted meetings with key personnel • Efficient Transportation Decision Making (ETDM) coordinator • South Florida East Coast Corridor Study project manager • LAP Coordinator • FDOT supportive of projects if funding is available

  3. FDOT Coordination Summary First step – add projects to Broward Co. LRTP If Federal funds will be used or Federal permits will be required – NEPA compliance is required Funding must be programmed for PD&E Study for FDOT to initiate NEPA process FEC railroad bridge may be bigger challenge than US 1

Coordination Efforts – Broward MPO Met with MPO Director before LRTP Adoption Met with Hollywood to discuss potential transit hub relocation Attended LRTP Adoption Hearing to convey intent for amendment Follow-up meeting with MPO staff regarding strategy for LRTP amendment Confirmed LRTP amendment process

LRTP Amendment Process • Submitted request from City Commission for LRTP Amendment • Include US 1 & FEC bridges in the Illustrative Section of Plan • Designate an anchor hub at US 1 & DBB • Technical Coordinating Committee (TCC) • Community Involvement Roundtable (CIR) • Amended LRTP to include bridge projects administratively

  6. Future Steps Coordinate with FEC regarding concepts for new rail bridge Prepare concept study for US 1 & FEC bridges Program funding for Project Development & Environment (PD&E) Study Initiate Efficient Transportation Decision Making (ETDM) screening
