Experience • I’ve wanted to teach since I was 5yrs old! • I’ve taught elementary, middle and high school! • I taught in Detroit before joining VPPMS! • I’ve worked for Teach for America and The New Teacher Project as a teacher evaluator and trainer!
Philosophy • I believe that every child can learn and every student has the ability to excel behaviorally and academically! • I believe that a peaceful, comfortable, well-managed classroom creates an optimal learning environment! • I believe that organization, critical thinking, and effective communication are among the skills necessary for success in college and beyond!
6th Grade English • 6th grade English content includes analysis of poetry, informational text, and fictional novels • Students will engage in rigorous vocabulary instruction, publish multiple writing pieces, and participate in class discussions and projects • The English content will also enable students to raise their reading comprehension and fluency levels
6th Grade World History • 6th grade history content covers early man through the rise of the Roman Empire! • This includes the history behind Judaism, Buddhism, Greek mythology and Christianity! • The history course will also include research techniques, Socratic Seminar and current events! • Students will take part in projects, debates, and interactive lessons!

Classroom Expectations • Students are expected to keep a notebook for daily Do Nows. • Students need 6 labeled dividers to keep all classwork • Students will work in groups throughout the school year and are expected to work cooperatively • Students will be graded on participation, homework completion, classwork completion, and assessments. • Grading policy: • Tests and Quizzes – 35% • Homework – 30% • Classwork (Includes participation) – 30% • Journal and Binder Checks – 5%
