Preparatory stage (Directives Part 1, 2.4) The Working Group prepares a working draft (WD) conforming to Directives Part 2 • WG meeting(s) is/are held as necessary • IEC Collaboration Platform is recommended for exchange of information among experts • All proposals from experts should be considered and evaluated • No consultation of National Committees at this stage

  9. Voting / Commenting periods for project documents • NP: 4 weeks or 12 weeks 4 weeks is possible when the attached draft is an outline and when an existing group is making the proposal • CD: 8, 12 or 16 weeks • CDV: 12 weeks only • FDIS: 6 weeks • DTS: 12 weeks • DTR, PAS: 8 weeks

IEC Projects Dashboard – Transmission of information • Submission of project documents: NP, RVN, CD, CC, CDV, RVC, FDIS, DTS, RVDTS, DTR, RVDTR, DPAS, RVDPAS • Editing questions at FDIS and Publication stages TC/SC Officers • Secretary, • Assistant Secretary Chair, Vice Chair IEC Central Office Technical Officer • Administrative Assistant • Editor Projects Dashboard • Submission of other documents: AC, DA, DC, DL, INF, MTG, Q, RQ and RM • Any other correspondence

Document for Comments (DC) • Feedback on a document is requested from the P-Members of the TC/SC/SyC • It should not be the draft of an active project (CD should be used for such cases) • It is circulated for comments for a minimum of 6 weeks • Its resulting INF does not constitute a formal approval by the P-Members • Examples: • to initiate the revision of a publication, • to review the Strategic Business Plan, the scope of the TC/SC/SyC, • … • For each DC document, a resulting INF shall be issued

Document for information (INF) • It includes any kind of information relevant to the P-Members of the TC/SC/SyC • It should not be a document internal to WGs (Meeting notice, agenda or minutes), • No feedback from P-Members is expected • Examples: • WG or liaison report to the TC/SC/SyC, • P-Members participation statistics, • Compilation of comments on a DC document, • …

  14. Questionnaire (Q) • Question sent to the P-Members of the TC/SC/SyC • The question should be formulated in a way that the response is given as a “Yes”, “No” or “Abstain” • Approval by a simple majority, unless otherwise stated in Directives Part 1 • It is circulated for vote for a minimum of 6 weeks • Examples: • to initiate the revision of a publication, • to approve the nomination of a Chair, a Vice-chair, a Convenor, • to approve a liaison with an external organization (A or B), • … • For each Q document, a RQ (Result of Questionnaire) shall be issued

  15. Administrative Circular (AC)(in a TC/SC/SyC) • document relevant to the structure/running of the TC/SC/SyC • Examples: • Call for experts, • Meeting announcement and registration, • Call for nominations of TC/SC/SyC officers and convenors, • …

Group types in IEC • Working Groups (WG) • Handle several new (ED1) and maintenance projects • Numbered in sequence of establishment • Reasonably limited in size • Possibility of having more than one Convenor • Disbanded on completion of all its projects • Project Teams (PT) • Work on the development of one new project (ED1) • Designated by the project number ( PT 6XXXX) • Disbanded – automatically – on completion of the project • Maintenance Teams (MT) • Keep a publication or a set of publications up to date • Cannot develop a new project (ED1) • Numbered in the same sequence as Working Groups • No minimum size

Group types in IEC • Advisory Groups (AG) • Assist the Chair and Secretary in coordination, planning and steering of the committee’s activities • Established based on terms of reference and dissolved by P-members • Members nominated by P-members • Output only recommendations for approval by P-members(cannot prepare IS, TS, PAS, TR documents) • Ad Hoc Groups (AHG) • Study a precisely defined problem • Members chosen from delegates present at the meeting – Can be supplemented by experts later • Disbanded at the meeting to which it submits its report • Editing Committees • Update and edit CDs, CDVs, FDISs • Ensure the conformity to the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2 • Recommended membership: Convenor or Project Leader, one English mother tongue Expert, and one French mother tongue Expert

New edition of ISO/IEC Directives Part 2 (Edition 8.0, 2018-05) • The 2016 edition of ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2, completely redrafted and restructured the text of the 2011 edition • Most of the changes made in the 2018 edition are simple clarifications of the new text • Some elements of the 2011 edition, which were removed in the 2016 edition, have been reintroduced • Applicable to all CDV and FDIS registered after 2018-10-01
