EQUAL-DP QUINTA: Activities The DP-Activities – a Summary In a concerted action the DP wants to effectively improve the vocational training and labour-situation for disadvantaged groups on the labour-market (long-term unemployed, older unemployed persons, immigrants, disabled persons, socially disadvantaged persons etc.) in the Werl / Soest region. The main focus of the DP is on the disadvantaged young persons on the regional labour-market (school drop-outs, low-qualified young persons with social disadvantages etc.). To realize their goals the partners implement ten innovative model projects for the qualification of the target groups and for their sustainable integration into the labour-market. 2
EQUAL-DP QUINTA: Regional Problems Regional Problems in the Werl / Soest Area Rural structure and geographic expansion Depressing situation on the local job-market, high unemployment-rate In 2002/03 nearly 6 % of the pupils left school without a final certificate Above-average increase in juvenile delinquancy in the region Werl / Soest Overproportional percentage of migrants and their children as well as ethnic German immigrants, especially from Eastern European countries Especially the disadvantaged young people in the area with a low degree of school education are negatively affected The regional network of relevant players in the job-market sector is insufficient The educational and occupational ressources are not yet being fully exploited and are poorly coordinated There is no common strategy in favour of the disadvantaged groups in the area Werl / Soest 3
EQUAL-DP QUINTA: Objectives Selected Objectives of the DP QUINTA Integration of disadvantaged (young) persons into the job- and vocational-training-market in a targeted and tailored way Development of innovative qualification-concepts and flexible employment structures Matching of vocational education to the virtual demands of the regional companies Initiation and promotion of a dialogue between all parties involved Opening of the regional companies towards the disadvantaged target groups Derivation of activity-options for local politicians, companies and authorities Development of innovative modular joint training systems and cooperation models for vocational training and occupation Development of supporting structures for the in-company implementation of the new concepts Reduction of discrimination of disadvantaged groups at work and in the managment departments of local companies Implementation of empowerment strategies for the disadvantaged target groups 4

EQUAL-DP QUINTA: Project Details Project 4:Qualification Concept „Regenerative Energies“ • KonWerl Zentrum GmbH, Werl • Target group: Disadvantaged young persons and adults • Development of innovative qualification-modules „regenerative energies“ • Multiple stage qualification concept • QM1: Basic module for vocational preparation and schools • QM2: Vocational orientation in various occupational areas • QM3: Additional qualification for participants in regular vocational education • QM3 is also suitable for the qualification of persons who have interrupted their professional lives for a longer time • Supplemented by trainings on the job and practice workshops • Official certification of the qualification-modules is intended 9
EQUAL-DP QUINTA: Project Details Project 5:Scholastic Preparation for Immigrants • Institut für Technologie- und Wissenstransfer im Kreis Soest e.V., Soest • Target group: Future students of the University of Applied Sciences in Soest with an immigrant-background • Lectures and exercise courses prior to the regular engineering studies • Preparatory training of social competencies (teamworking ability etc.) • Reduction of the social inhibition thresholds of the participants • Optimized integration of the participants into the academic life • Adjusted didactics and exercises in technical terminology • Transfer of basic technical knowledge • Transfer of basic business-management knowledge 10
