What is the aim of the Apprenticeship programme • The new ‘Ratings Apprenticeship’ is a programme designed to draw fresh talent into the shipping industry. • Motivated and loyal crew, trained to company specific requirements, not only reduces skill shortages but can minimise staff turnover and can increase productivity within your company
Why choose the Rating Apprenticeship programme • Bursaries to Shipping Companies to Develop and Provide Rating Apprenticeship Programmes • The MEF are offering bursaries to shipping companies who employ UK rating apprentices • A bursary of £4000 per trainee can be claimed by the employer
What is the Rating Apprenticeship programme • The rating programme is made up of 5 stages • 3 college stages and 2 sea stages • Qualification the ratings come out with are as follows: • Level 2 Award in Maritime Studies • STCW Proficiency in Designated Security Duties • STCW Basic Training for Seafarers • MNTB Entry into Enclosed Spaces • Level 2 Certificate in Maritime Studies • Functional Skills Maths and English • EDH Certificate
