If you are engaged in a job that requires you to spend long hours on your feet, you should be able to take a break to give your legs and feet time to rest. During the break, try to sit with your legs raised at the same level as your heart. Avoid crossing your legs when you sit. 1. Avoid standing for long periods.
Good circulation plays a big role in the prevention of varicose veins. 2. Move your legs to allow blood to flow through your veins.
Being obese or overweight reduces your body's ability to circulate blood efficiently in your body. Poor circulation increases the pressure on your veins and reduces their capacity to supply blood to the heart. The veins in your legs are especially affected because they are located at the lowest level of your body. 3. Maintain a healthy weight.
