“Scorecard” key points/takeaways • Accountability tool … measures student performance … in a clear and concise way • Help students achieve their educational goalson time • Increase the # of students who earn certificates & degrees or transfer • 2/3 of all jobs in Ca. by 2018 will require some level of college education • Use the scorecard to track the rate of students completing certificates, degrees and transfers • Completion of 30 units, a “momentum point” closely correlated with completion and wage gain • Notintended as a way to rank colleges rather to provide benchmark data that will focus attention on sustained institutional improvementover time
“Scorecard” measurements • Persistence – sustained enrollment are more likely to succeed • % achieved 30 Units – positively correlated with completion & wages • Completion – % with degree, certificate or transfer • Remedial- % started below transfer level & completed college-level in same discipline • Career Technical Education - % completed several course classified as career technical education (or vocational) * 1, 2 & 3 – breakout: Overall/College Prepared/College Unprepared

“Wage Tracker” Methodology: • Uses Ca. Employment Development Unemployment Insurance(EDDUI) wage data with the CCCCO data • Annual award completers who earned certificates or degrees in a given academic year • annual median wages for each student • In occupation covered by UIin Ca. • Excludes: • Those with no wages during the calculation year • If award category has less than 10 students • Employed by the military or federal government, self-employed, employed out of state, unemployed, or not in the workforce after completion of an award • Parttime/full time status • Require a SSN • Wages adjusted for inflation to current dollars using the Ca. College “Wage Tracker” Methodology: • Received an awardin specific academic time periods • Not have transferredto a four year institution • Not enrolled in CCCsystem after receiving an award • Not older than 21 at time of award • Awards with no graduates in the last two years of the combined 8 year group of graduates were excluded
