There on their way • British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has ordered that 500 more British troops be deployed to Afghanistan due to the rise in violence • The UK has the second largest number of troops in the region. (9,500) • Claims this will help the Afghan forces train so they can eventually protect there own country

Violence in Pakistan • On Thursday teams of armed gunmen attacked three different law enforcement facilities in the eastern city of Lahore • No group claimed responsibility for the attack however it is believed that it is the works of the Pakistani Taliban • Two car bombs exploded in separate cities • One exploded outside of a school in Peshawar • 39 People have been killed

UP UP AND AWAY • A 6 year old boy from Colorado released a home made hot air balloon in the air • The balloon did have a basket and it was believed that the boy was inside • This create a huge search and rescue mission because the basket was found but the boy wasn’t inside • Science project between him and his dad • The boy was found at his house hiding in the attic

PAY THE CASH • Two US Airlines have been fined for violating FAA safety regulations. • United (3.8 Million) • US Airways (5.4 Million) • FAA ordered USAir to check for landing gear cracks on their A320 jets • US Airways flew two of their A320 a/c 43 times before finally inspecting • Situation involving UA was one of their 737 jets which had a broken engine and mechanics used two towels to cover the leaking oil instead of using protective caps

  7. STUPID THINGS PEOPLE DO • An Alabama woman has been arrested for child endangerment • Had a cardboard box that she claimed was to big for the car so she made her 13 year old daughter ride in the box. • Cops stopped her on the highway • Only thing that was holding the box on was a wire hanger
