  2. Introduction Who is Ohio PERS? • 10th largest statewide public pension system in the U.S. • Has provided Ohio’s public employees with financial security since January 1, 1935 • Substitutes for Social Security for public employees in Ohio

Introduction Who is eligible to select a plan? • New members hired after January 1, 2003 Who is not eligible to select a plan? • Full time Law enforcement officers • OPERS and other system retirees • New hires that have money on account from prior public service • To inquire about eligibility please call 1-866-OPERS-4-U

  4. Introduction When do you need to select a plan and enroll? • 180-day enrollment period • Enrollment period begins on the date employment begins • Selection applies to all OPERS covered employment

  5. Introduction You have three OPERS Retirement Plan to select from • The Traditional Pension Plan • The Member-Directed Plan • The Combined Plan
