The New Performance and Development Review Scheme for Support Staffat LSE Sarah March HR Manager 18 November 2009
Why have we changed from the current scheme? • Widespread consultation • Feedback mainly positive but some concerns • Changes made to address these concerns
Underlying Principles of New Scheme • Two-way, constructive and positive dialogue • Fair and consistently applied to all support staff • Open with no surprises • A framework that combines performance and development, linked more closely to SDP’s / DDP’s • Performance looked at in terms of how, as well as what • Evidence-based to eliminate subjectivity • Structured approach to identifying training needs and feeding this back to SDU / IT Services
New Features • ‘Grandparent’ Approach • Closer link to other school processes, for example ASSC submissions, annual Band 8/9 ASSC meeting and Band 10 submission to Remuneration Committee • More emphasis on behaviours using KSB’s and a complementary framework for non managerial staff • More structured feedback mechanisms to SDU • Optional feature : 360 ‘light’
How will it fit with any schemes currently in operation? • For those with schemes already successfully working in the department / division we will visit you to discuss the best way forward.
When will it be launched? • Launched fully next February • Everyone to receive a Personal Development Folder
What support will be available? • ‘Grandparent’ Briefings to begin end of January 2010 • Further briefings and training to be rolled on a team by team basis February to April 2010.
