You would know that I am • A part of the FATS family • Fats are a necessary component of body tissue, they make hormones, protect cells and internal organs, keep the body warm, and allow us to store calories to protect us from times when food in unavailable.
If you Really knew me you would know…. • I am know as the “building blocks” of life • Without me most basic life functions cannot be carried out
You would know that I am • A part of the Protein Family • Almost all cells in the body are constantly being broken down and then rebuilt, requiring a steady supply of protein. Works with the body to build and repair tissues, necessary for blood clotting, and keeps the immune system strong and fighting disease. In other words they are the “building blocks”
If you Really knew me you would know…. • It is recommended to consume 25-35% of me in your daily diet • I stay in the stomach longer than other foods, making you feel full
You would know that I am • A member of the fats family • Fats needs are expressed as a percent of total energy needs, which depends on levels of physical activity. For children ages 2-18 25-35% will be part of a balanced diet.

You would know that I am • I am fiber a part of the carbohydrate family • A portion of a plant that can not be digested, fiber can absorb water and help get rid of waste products. Fiber may help prevent heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. When not enough is consumed, constipation may occur, but too much will cause nutrients to pass through too quickly to be absorbed.
