Purpose The ESN has set itself the goal to create and to maintain a multilateral network. The most important goal is to bring into contact students and teachers from secondary education from as many European countries as possible and to let them work together. A website with the appropriate database has been designed to realize this goal and to give the participating schools the opportunity to get into contact with each other in a very simple and effective way.
How does it work? The participating school has to sign a statement to be able to use the ESN information in which they agree to realize at least two mobilities with one of the partner schools for a period, with a minimum of one school year. For this goal the ESN collects as much information as possible from the participating schools. The ESN has made a website available for schools to find information about the mobility possibilities of the partner schools. This will enable them to realize the mobilities. When participating, partner schools are obliged to make the information to the ESN website available.
How does it work? Continues… The website is freely accessible to all students and employees of the ESN schools. The responsibility for realization of the mobility lies with the participating schools. To keep the database as up-to-date as possible, a match of two or more members of the ESN will be reported as soon as possible to the executive committee of the ESN. Every mobility is entered via the application-form (a version for students and one for teachers).
Possible mobilities One on one exchange, or in groups of two or five persons. Group exchange, under the guidance of teachers with a maximum of 12 to 15 students in a group. Seminar for one or two students of the same school with students of the partner schools. Possible subjects: Didactics of possible subjects Comparing the educational systems Training-styles Student representation Duration of the seminars Three to four days Accommodation Host families, youth hostels or in one of the participating schools
Possible mobilities Continues… Teachers Exchange Teachers of the ESN schools are given the opportunity to teach at another school of the participating ESN schools for a period of one to two weeks. For this exchange aspect there are two possibilities: The colleague of the same subject of the host school guides the visiting colleague and enables him/her to give part of his/her lessons. The teachers will exchange workspace simultaneously.
