  5. Analisis Kasus 1 • Tujuan pokok analisis bahasa adalah memahami makna. Makna sebuah tuturan bisa saja merupakan hasil interpretasi terhadap sebuah tuturan sebelumnya. Seperti kasus berikut ini. • X: Musiknya terdengar keras sekali. • Y: (a) Musik ini benar-benar cadas! • (b) Sound system ini berarti masih oke, ya? • (c ) Saya rasa biasa-biasa saja. • (d) Maaf ya, sebentar saya kecilin. • Mengapa respon Y bisa bermacam-macam? Apakah bentuk, makna, konteks, dan maksud bisa membantu analisis dalam memahami fenomena ini?

Analisis Kasus 2 Dalam masyarakat Indonesia yang heterogen, tuturan basa-basi untuk menolak agar tuan rumah tidak perlu menghidangkan sesuatu kepada tamu dinyatakan secara berbeda-beda, a.l: • Tidak usah repot-repot, Bu. • Kagak use repot-repot, Nyak. • Tak usah pot-repot, Buk. • Indak usah repot-repot lai, Buk. Apakah ada konteks yang mempengaruhi kemunculan masing-masing tuturan di atas?
