Act 1- The film starts off with the narrative all in balance. It starts off with the young girl who goes on to be the ‘Femme Fetale’, on her 6th birthday receiving presents from family and friends. This scene will be shot in black and white because it is a flash back, and it is the last happy memories she has just before her parents’ death. Their death happened on the same day. • Inciting incident – The disturbance is the death of the parents. The parents get assassinated on the young girls birthday. This is a key moment in the film because her whole future changes and she seeks revenge. • Act 2 – The second act is the disequilibrium and the struggle to get the balance back, this is the scene which involves the girl (who is now older, a college student) having a bad day at college. This scene contains flashbacks of the day her parents died. She then realises she wants to seek vengeance and seek their killer. • Realisation – This scene involves the female protagonist going to meet her uncle to explain she needs training and wants to seek revenge for the death of her parents. The uncle then takes her in and trains her to be a natural born killer. • Act 3 – Act 3 is the death of the antagonist, the revenge is complete and this I a new equilibrium for the film and it is seen as a fresh start, for both the girl (protagonist) and the uncle who is the helper.
INFLUENCES Kill bill has strong powerful women as the main character and as a group we want this to reflect in our film Black and white with colour theory is used through out the whole of sin city, we feel this would work well with the flash back scene and to highlight important items for example we’re going to have a item of jewellery with a bright colour to link two clips together in the trailer
Marketing • As our film ‘The Hunter’ is a mainstream movie we will market the film similarly to how Harry Potter or any other major blockbuster would. This will include two teaser posters which will show our main female protagonist, and a main poster showing members of the cast. We will make both a full trailer and a teaser trailer in order to attract a large audience. We hope to distribute the movie to most mainstream cinemas including the likes of Cineworld and Odeon. Finally we intend to make and sell merchandise depending on how much hype and positive feedback our film receives. It will be quite difficult to build popularity and awareness on one film alone. Saga’s such as Twilight and Harry Potter will find this easy as they have previous films which they can rely on in order to produce excitement for the fans and a level of expectation. We will also rely on word of mouth in order to get a wider range of audience. We have taken influence from films such as Columbiana which has a similar narrative. We hope to follow and take inspiration on how they marketed the movie. Finally our film will have T.V advertisement. Both this and online advertisement will be our most effective way of showing awareness because such a large range of people watch T.V and use social media which means more audiences will be aware.
Mise en scene • The Mise en scene of the film will be very modern resulting in both costume and the theme of the film to be very relevant. Our film ‘The Hunter’ will be filmed and based in Brighton which means some landmarks may be shown in certain shots. • Our film is a Femme Fetale film and our main female protagonist will dress how any other 17-19 year old would. When she is undercover she will be wearing dull colours and outfits in order to stay undercover and minimise the chance of people finding out who she really is. • When she trains and is fully trained she will have a different style of outfit which is iconic to her, offering iconography to her character. Similar to the yellow jumpsuit Beatrix wears in Kill Bill. Kill Bill was a major influence when adapting our main protagonist and deciding what she should wear. • The rest of the cast will not be wearing anything unique in order to show the importance of our female protagonist. This helps our main protagonist stand out, which we decided we wanted to do.
