Community Policing GOALS and OBJECTIVES • Enforce the program rules and encourage compliance • Be a mentor, motivator and coach • Gaining acceptance and changing the negative perception of law enforcement • Applying a soft entry approach while conducting a thorough probe into the home • Never leave the participant in a downward spiral • CP team partner’s must work as a unit • Train as a team • Communicate ideas and issues frequently
Methods • We conduct 1 or 2 visits per week • The schedule run from the staffing day on Tuesday to the next Monday • We try to get done within 4 hours • Participants must call us back within 10 minutes if they are not home • Each participant’s home must schedule an initial K9 check / residence search to ensure the home is free of drugs and weapons
Visit Rotations • We try to conduct the visits on a varying schedule of times and days • We have found that Friday through Sunday are the best days to conduct visits if we are only doing 1 visit for that week • When we are conducting 2 visits we try to gap the visits within a 72 hour window • Double back, Monday and Sunday night visits have been effective for catching positives for alcohol • We conduct after midnight and warrant runs with at least three Deputies for safety purposes
