Progressive Movement: movement that wanted to improve working conditions and create laws to regulate businesses. Muckraker: reporter/writer who exposed corruption. Knights of Labor: a union formed in 1869 made up of skilled and unskilled workers. Lockout: when workers are could not enter a plant. Vocabulary
American Federation of Labor: formed in 1886 by Samuel Gompers-had skilled workers only. Homestead Strike: 1892 union strike against steel plant in Pennsylvania. Yellow dog contract: written agreement not to join a union. Blacklist: list of workers who were union members. Vocabulary
