  3. Qualities of a Judge • Good Listener • Honest-with self/others • Knowledgeable-speech requirements • Trustworthy, Fair • Accurate in Counting (ballot columns)

  4. Integrity Judging • Be objective - unbiased • Panel of Judges-overcome bias of one judge • Signed Form- judge’s (personal signature)

  5. Barriers to Objectivity • Let’s Help “Underdog”-least likely to win • Give Someone Else a Chance-he/she always wins. • Prejudices and Personal Preferences • Not Familiar with Judging Forms

  6. The Judging Form • Read over before hand • Print and sign name on bottom • List 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place - No Ties • Keep form private- use a cover sheet • Hand in lower portion only • Dispose of properly afterwards
