GAS in draft 2.0 • Generic • Advertisement • Service • ‘GAS’ is an encapsulation mechanism which is NOT: • Generic (it only supports a Native Query, MIIH, maybe CAP?) • Advertisement (does not advertises anything). The only thing which is advertised is the interworking capability • Service (service=“the work performed by one that serves” ) Gabor Bajko, Nokia

Name change suggestion for GAS • Instead of using the misleading name of ‘Advertisement’, use ‘Query’ to reflect exactly what it is • Instead of saying it is a ‘service’, say what it actually is: a mechanism. Mechanisms or protocols are used to access services (like eg MIIS) • Avoid using the name ‘generic’. Or modify the mechanism to become generic and keep the word in its name. Gabor Bajko, Nokia
