Main Aim of the Computer Misuse Act of 1990 The aim of this Guidance is to ensure that universities recognise the seriousness of these offences and to encourage a greater degree of common practice in dealing with the people who carry out these actions, whether action is taken under the criminal law or through the use of disciplinary procedures.

Reasons for the Computer Misuse Act 1990 • The computer misuse act is mostly used for the anti-hacking legislation. • This act of misuse was put into place due to the increasing amount of system and data hacking. • Before this act was put into place, the act of hacking was not illegal and all the data and systems of the people in the UK was at risk.

Which organisatiosn must comply with the Computer Misuse Act of 1990 • Companies which use and store data which is stored using internet or intranet. • Organisations must process data in a proper and lawful way. • Organisations should make sure that their network and software's are secure from hackers.
