  2. What is RISE? A program for Undergrads • “Research Internships in Science and Engineering” • 8-12 weeks in summer • Web-based matching process • Undergrads work directly with German doctoral students at top labs across the country • No German required but DAAD supports intensive language courses prior to the start of the internship • Scholarships and housing assistance provided • 306 interns placed in 2011 • Next deadline: January 31, 2012

  3. RISE 2011 In 2011 the RISE Internship Database contained 687 Research Internships including: • 197 Biology Projects • 91 Chemistry Projects • 249 Engineering Projects • 127 Physics Projects • 23 Earth Science Projects

  4. RISE 2012 • Online application at www.daad.de/rise • Which documents are required? • One cover letter for each project (up to 3 projects possible) • A Curriculum Vitae • List of Courses • Letter of recommendation • Official Transcript • Certificate of Enrollment

Graduates: RISE professional • R&D internships with leading German companies. • Directed at graduate students and recent graduates or undergraduate DAAD alumni from North America. • Six weeks to six months (beginning in the summer). • Scholarships funded through DAAD and participating companies.

Graduates: RISE professional • Knowledge GERMAN: often not a requirement but a definite PLUS, so DAAD sponsors your participation in a language course with up to€ 500,-. • All RISE professional participants meet in Bonn for their scholarship holders meeting (costs covered by DAAD). • Interested?
