The lower primary stage -The new edition of English for Palestine at the lower primary stage from (1-4 )grade contains 18 units for every stage.9 units for each semester . -Every unit of these contains 6 lessons. -The mentioned numbers mean that there are 96 lessons included in two textbook each book has 48 lessons. -The four language skills in this stage are ordered as follows : 1- listening and speaking. 2- reading. 3- writing.

  3. -We also come to a fact that three periods every week are allocated to this stage at the governmental and UNRWAs’ schools as well . -This number of periods is not sufficient to the lessons from teacher point of view))in the book.

  4. The higher primary(5-10) Grades that we selected from this stage are: Fifth Grade Ninth Grade

GradeThe Fifth -The textbook of the fifth grade contains 24 units ,12 for each semester. -Every unit of these contains 4 lessons . -As a result, the number of lessons in each semester will be 48 and over the whole year the students will take 96. -The four language skills in this stage are ordered as follows: 1- reading. 2- listening and speaking. 3- writing. -The allocated number of periods every week for this stage in governmental school 4 periods , but the UNRWAs’ schools the periods are 5 every week.

The Ninth Grade -Grade 9 contains 16 units divided into two semesters each semester contains 8 units. -Every unit of these contains 6 lessons. -The result is the number of lessons in whole text book is 96 each semester has 48 lessons. -The four language skills in this stage are ordered as follows: 1- listening 2- speaking 3-reading 4- language and speaking 5-Listening and speaking 6- writing the allocated number of periods five classes a week in governmental and UNRWAs’ schools.

Each unit has six lessons which should be taught within two weeks, this means that each lesson needs two classes to be done and this is very sufficient (from point of school’s teacher ) “Always it is sufficient to teach the book only . But if the teacher wants to make quizzes , work sheets , or to support the lessons its ”not enough “The curriculum of the English language is a lot for the level of the student” (teachers said )

Secondary Stage(11-12) -In Grade 12 the book contains 12 units divided into two semesters each semester contains 6 units . -Every unit of these contains 10 lessons . -The result is the number of lessons in whole text book is 120 each semester has 60 lessons . -The four language skills in this stage are ordered as follows: 1- listening 2- speaking 3-reading 4- speaking 5-Listening and speaking 6- writing

  9. In our educational system we have two stream for the 12th grade Literary stream 6 classes every week Scientific stream 5 classes every week Each lesson takes 2 classes and each unit takes at least 2 weeks . So the period is sufficient to finish the curriculum according to the plan.

  10. “The number of lessons for teaching English in 12th grade is very fit for us to teach because the government made some reduction and omitt last two units” (said by teacher)
