  2. Simple Subject • What do you already know about complete subjects and complete predicates? • The main word (or words) in the complete subject is called the simple subject. • Noun or Pronoun

  3. Simple Predicate • The main word or words in a complete predicate is the simple predicate. • The simple predicate is made up of at least one verb, a word that shows action or being. • The main verb may have one or more helping verbs.

  11. Underline the simple subject and double underline the simple predicate • 1. Marty Shaw heard the bulldozer. • 2. The bulldozer mover slowly. • 3. Its big scoop had been pushing piles of sand. • 4. Marty’s eyes sparkled with delight. • 5. Piles of sand disappeared. • 6. The dark sand looked moist. • 7. A pool of water was evaporating in the sun.
