Gazprom vs. NaftogazUkrainy Alexey Miller OleksiyIvchenko • Naftogaz owes us $6 million. • Naftogaz is stealing gas meant for Europe. • We want to raise the gas price from $180 per 1,000 cm3 to $250. • We do not owe any money to Gazprom. • Gazprom is holding the gas supplies for Europe. • We cannot afford the new price.

  3. January 1st.->Gazprom stopped supplying gas to Ukraine. • GAS CRISIS in Europe. -> No gas for industries. -> European citizens might lack gas. -> It’s cold. Because Gazprom… Controls 20% of the world’s gas storage Possesses the largest network of gas pipes Provides more than 40% of Europe’s gas imports -> Lithuania 80%, Slovakia 100%, Bulgaria 90%

  4. Is it political? Vladimir Putin • Russian government owns 50% of Gazrpom. • Medvedev was a previous chairman of Gazprom. • Gazprom was initially government-owned. • Energy=Power -> Russia > Ukraine? DimitriMedvedev

  5. January 11th. • Putin, Prime Minister of Russia, and Mirek, Prime Minister of Czech Republic have signed a document. • This document ensures that Russian gas flows into Ukraine by close monitoring of gas importation.
