The AP Scholars Academy @ PCHS offers driven students the opportunity to take rigorous courses, gain college credit, and develop analytical and research skills. Students can choose between a humanities or math/science focus, and benefit from guidance and support in Advanced Placement opportunities.

What is the AP Scholars Academy @ PCHS? • Gives driven students an opportunity to take rigorous courses • Provides guidance to students regarding Advanced Placement opportunities • Opportunity to take classes based on student interests and strengths • Math/Science focus vs. Humanities focus • Provides students the opportunity for • College credit • Provides students an opportunity for a challenging education • Groups students with like-minded peers • Acquisition of analytical, rhetorical, and research skills necessary for collage
Courses Available In order to be eligible to apply to AP Seminar and the AP Scholars Academy @ PCHS, students MUST take and pass at least one Honors English AND Honors History class. *Minimum of four AP courses should be taken with a score of 3 or higher by the end of Junior year. Students may opt to take additional AP courses in 12th grade.

Requirements for Completing AP Capstone • Earn a score of 3 or higher in AP Seminar, AP Research, and at least four additional AP exams of their choosing; • Complete all the relevant coursework for all enrolled AP courses; • And complete the research essay and oral defense serving as the final project for AP Research.
Student Accountability • Highly rigorous program • College level in preparation for AP exam(s) • Corresponding coursework to teach skills • Academic progress of AP Scholars will be monitored weekly to ensure that the criteria are being met: • Maintaining at least a 75% average in each AP class. • Regular attendance • AP Intervention • Meet with AP Education Coordinator (APEC) regularly for academic mentoring • Attend tutoring regularly with AP teacher(s) • Released from Intervention upon maintaining class average higher than 75% • Failure to meet expectations for AP Intervention or improve academic performance after second year may result in exiting from program
So How Do I Enroll? • Complete an AP Scholars Academy interest packet • Secure two teacher recommendations (Math/Science and English/History) • Submit interest packet to Mr. Kiste by March 29th • Mr. Andrew KistePiedmont Classical High School4100 Yanceyville Rd.Browns Summit, NC 27214 • Work with Academic Advisor to enroll in AP courses
