History of the Z and Golden Z Club Programs • Established in 1948 • One of Zonta International's longest-running programs Members of one of the first Z clubs, the Z Club at John Burroughs High School in Burbank, CA, USA in 1949.
Goals Leadership, Careers and Service Help high school, college and university students: • develop leadership skills • promote career exploration • encourage members to participate in community, school and international service projects Members of the Z Club of AGHS in New Zealand donate fundraising money to a local children's hospital.
Z club and Golden Z club Objectives • Bring the mission of Zonta International, “Empowering women through service and advocacy,” to students around the world • Stimulate new and meaningful service and advocacy projects • Create vital pathways into Zonta International club membership Batavia High Z Club, NY, USA taps into Uganda Water Project by walking five-miles.
Growing Participation - by the numbers May 2017 • 239 Z clubs • 111 Golden Z clubs May 2012 • 173 Z Clubs • 31 Golden Z Clubs Members of the Golden Z Club of Reno, NV, USA was awarded Outstanding New Club of the year at their college.
Global Service Projects – Making a Difference Corvallis High School Z Club, Oregon, helps build house for Habitat for Humanity. Raising Money Building Houses Members of the Z Club of AGHS in New Zealand sell baked good to raise money for local children's hospital. Clean Water Cancer Awareness HOWW Z Club, Queensland, holds fundraiser for breast cancer research. Z Club of Colombo, Sri Lanka provides water filter to school in need.
Global Advocacy Initiatives Speaking Up! St. Marks Z Club Says NO to Violence Against Women. Gender Equality NO to Violence Hong Kong Student Union Golden Z Club launches Gender Equality Awareness Campaign. NO to Violence Anti-Bullying Z and Golden Z Club of St. Michaels College of Laguna advocate for respect and anti-bullying. The Z Club of Colombo, Sri Lanka Says NO to ViolenceAgainst Women.

Conlon Service Awards • Awarded to clubs whose club projects best express the ideals of Zonta International • Eligible clubs must submit one service project in any of the following categories: • School service • Community service • International service • Established in 1961 for Z clubs and Golden Z clubs from around the world

How to start your Z club or Golden Z club • Step 1. Find a club member with passion for students and mentoring skills • Step 2. Make a three-year commitment • Step 3. Reach out to local schools and universities - secure permission if needed • Consider: Location, administration, current clubs, and diversity • Step 4. Know The Z Club Guidelines: READ the Manual. • Step 5. Launch your Z club or Golden Z club and register it with Zonta International
Z club and Golden Z club sponsor resources • Review the Z and Golden Z Club Manual located on the Zonta International website: https://membership.zonta.org/Manuals • Complete the 2 page ZI "New Z-Club Authorization" form (located at www.zonta.org/Local-Action/Start-a-Z-or-Golden-Z-Club) and send with US$25 for charter registration to Zonta International Headquarters. Z and Golden Z club members do not owe any dues to Zonta International.

Challenge them to get involved. • Monitor your community newspapers.
