The SUSBIZ concept • CSR as an umbrella term including responsible business practices in all activities, also Occupational Health & Safety, environment, labour issues etc. • Contributing to a healthy company through addressing core business activities • For small and big companies alike, not only for big corporations

Drivers of CSR • The pull from the market: Companies are becoming aware of the new market opportunities – consumers and business partners increasingly demand high ethical standards and new ethical products (CSR innovation) • The push from critical actors: Companies are increasingly managing risks for negative publicity, e.g. critical NGO’s journalists, consumer organisations, governments, etc.

  7. Drivers of CSR • Ethical standpoint: whish for minimising negative impact – and optimising positive impact – on environment and society, related to managing businesses. High Ethical Management goals.

  14. Objectives For SUSBIZ Kenya participants • Increase Kenyan participants’ ability to link CSR initiatives with business development • Increase Danish participants’ ability to deal with value chains, CSR management and stakeholder relations

  15. Objectives For FKE and FKE members: • Improving FKE’s CSR services for FKE members • Bring Kenya in the forefront of CSR in Africa and EAC. FKE will promote this agenda in close co-operation with the Global Compact Network

Activities For Kenyan SUSBIZ Kenya participants • Analysis of CSR and business performance in Kenyan companies • 7 Workshops in Kenya during the next 2 years (one joint with Danish companies) • Individual consultancy for the Kenyan Companies • One joint workshop with Danish companies in Denmark

  19. Activities For Danish SUSBIZ Kenya participants • 4 network meetings focussed on CSR in global value chains, CSR in a Kenyan context and exchange of experiences • 1 workshop (with participation of Kenyan companies)

  20. Activities For FKE members • A tailor made series of workshops building on the same core subjects conducted in collaboration between the SUSBIZ Team and FKE staff • Based these experiences FKE will build their own CSR services for member companies
