Study Permit Renewal Process Currently, there are two options: 1. Apply online: (secure and convenient) OR 2. Apply using a paper application
Study Permit Renewal Process • How to apply online: • Register for a Government of Canada MyCIC electronic account at www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-extend.aspand fill the online application form. • Scan and send the following documents: (The max. file size is 2 mb and must be in one of the following formats: PDF, TIFF, JPG, DOC.) • 1. Official letter from Kwantlen’s International Advisor. Please fill the Study Permit Renewal Letter Request Form (yellow) this form can be found and completed at any Admissions office. • 2. Photocopies of all relevant Passport pages. • 3. Photocopies of your current study permit and/or work permit • 4. Proof of sufficient financial support in Canada for a one year period (current official bank statements, proof from family members, etc.) • 5. Completed fee receipt (IMM5401) OR pay by credit card online . • The current fee is $125 CAN.

Include the following when mailing your application: • 1. Official letter from Kwantlen’s International Advisor. Please fill the Study Permit Renewal Letter Request Form (yellow) this form can be found and completed at any Admissions office. • 2. Photocopies of all relevant Passport pages. • 3. Photocopies of your current study permit and/or work permit • 4. Proof of sufficient financial support in Canada for a one year period (current official bank statements, proof from family members, etc.) • 5. Completed fee receipt (IMM5401) OR pay by credit card online. The current fee is $125 CAN. • 6. Transcripts from your last two periods of study. Order transcripts from Admissions. • 7. Completed application (IMM 1249) with your signature and • document checklist (IMM 5555).
Study Permit Renewal Process How to apply with a paper application: Mail the completed forms, supporting documents and fee payment receipt by Xpresspost™ through Canada Post so you can track your shipment online. Study Permit Renewal When should I apply to extend my study permit? Normally 3-4 months before expiry. Can I study while waiting for the new study permit? Yes but, you’ll need copies of the payment receipt and mailing tracking number (Xpresspost™) to show to Kwantlen.

Students are encouraged to come well-prepared to their appointment. This includes preparing questions ahead of time and doing preliminary research on program requirements for their chosen educational goal.
