  6. Count & Non Count Nouns • A noun can be a person, place, thing, idea, or quantity. • There are two basic noun groups: • Count Nouns • Non Count Nouns

  7. A, An, Some • They show the number of something. • A or an with a singular count noun means ‘one’ • Or refer to unspecified person or thing. • A: comes before consonants. • An: comes before vowels. • Some: used with plural nouns.

  8. Yes/No Questions with There is +Be • Is there a bridge across the East River? • Yes, there is. No, there isn’t. • Are there bridges across the East River? • Yes, there are. No, there aren’t.

  9. Any, Some, and A lot of • They are often used with count nouns. They are also used with non-count nouns.
