INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION PROGRAM • Vision • Developing an administrative model to be emulated in communicating with higher education institutions and specialized research centers • Mission • To provide a stimulating research environment for innovation and excellence by building internal and external partnerships to the support of scientific research and graduate programs of the university
INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION PROGRAM • Objectives • To explore possibilities of International cooperation agreements with universities and scientific research institutions around the world • To encourage and motivate university faculties to communicate with their counterparts in the leading universities of the world • Introducing the university at the international level in order to make global presence of the SAU academic disciplines
INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION PROGRAM • To build partnerships for joint scientific research programs with international universities involving faculty members and students in advanced academic and scientific research • To encourage exchange of visits between students and faculty • To mobilize and activate the university scholarships available for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research
WHAT WE DO? • Encourage and facilitate the SAU Departments/Colleges for global connectivity • International Collaboration Focuses on INSTITUTION-to-INSTITUTION Cooperation activities including: • Student Exchange Programs • SAU infrastructure development such as lab. establishment and consultation • Faculty Exchange Program • Joint research activities • Joint Academic Programs • Curriculum review programs • Degree Enrichment Programs
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO? • Step1: - Collaboration planning at the Department Council Level -Please notethat the proposal should be in the form ofa service contract, as per the instructions of the Ministry of Higher Education • Step2: Write a collaboration proposal to your College Council with the following details; • Details of activities to be undertaken such as: • Academic Programs Curriculum Exchange and Development • Infrastructure Development • No. of Students to be involved in exchange visits • No. of teachers/faculty members to exchange • Duration of the agreement • Cost and budget details • Tangible outcomes
Step3: The College will Write to the Director I.C. Program • Step 4: Director I.C. Program will submit the proposal to International Collaboration Committee after approval of Vice Rector for Scientific Research and Graduate Studies • Step 5: The International Collaboration Committee will discuss the case which will be directed to the University Council, then to His Excellency The Rector for approval
Step 6: After approval, Director I.C. will initiate the contracting process with the proposed University • Step 7: After the agreement has been finalized, the concerned College will be notified by the Director of the I.C. Program in order to start carrying out program activities

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, IRVINE, USA(Henry Samuel School of Engineering & SAU College of Engineering & College of Engineering and Computer Science) • 1st Master Service Agreement signed on 31-1-2012 • Agreement renewed on April 17, 2013 • Agreement will expire on March 01, 2016 • No of students to be hosted: 15 • Duration: 2 years • Services: • Development of Curriculum & Academic Programs • Summer training and advanced studies • ESL • Counseling Programs
UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, IRVINE, USA(Henry Samuel School of Engineering & SAU College of Engineering & College of Engineering and Computer Science) • Achievements: • 20 students had field training for 10 weeks which besides their study work focused on Counseling, Communication skill enhancement & ESL • Review of academic curricula • Academic curriculum accreditation report that focuses on accreditation of degree to make these programs acceptable

WHAT IS VISITING SCHOLAR PROGRAM? • INTRODUCTION: Visiting Scholar Program (VSP) is a new program which will focus on individual-level research and academic cooperation in which a SAU faculty member will cooperate with a visiting scholar (VS) who will be temporarily hired for a particular duration (may be for ONE year) under the Visiting Scholar Program Agreement • NOTE: This represents an Individual-Level Cooperation
VISITING SCHOLAR PROGRAM • Vision • To be a leading academic program to promote scientific research exchange at individual to individual level in the world • Mission • To provide with all necessary means to visiting scholars to contribute and exchange scientific research with SAU research groups and faculty members
VISITING SCHOLAR PROGRAM • Objectives • To manage all affairs of visiting scholars • To assist visiting scholars to fulfil their objectives in coordination with SAU departments, institutes and research groups • To adopt systematic procedures to attract distinguished international visiting scholars to participate in scientific research programs • To assist the university to achieve its strategic objectives
VISITING SCHOLAR PROGRAM • MAIN ACTIVITIES TO BE UNDERTAKEN: • Research activities; • To form a research group including SAU faculty and students • The research group will apply for research grants • To initiate and implement research projects • To publish joint research outcomes in ISI Indexed Journals 2. Infrastructure development; - To help SAU develop state-of-the art research laboratories and facilities 3. To delivers lectures and conduct workshops while visiting SAU 4. To facilitate in arranging international conferences and symposia
VISITING SCHOLAR PROGRAM Before nomination a VS SAU faculty members should consider the following before nominating a Visiting Scholar: • Outline a detailed research project • Determine academic staff/students who will participate as a research group from SAU side Criteria of Nominating VS • Nominate a Highly Professional Individual, who; • May be a Noble Laureate or; (http://www.nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/lists/all/) • Highly Cited Researcher or; http://www.highlycited.com/# • Has outstanding past publication record in ISI Indexed Journals (may be 20 ISI Publications in last five years) (www.isiwebofknowledge.com...... http://wokinfo.com/)
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO? Procedure of Nomination is the same as being followed in I.C. Program • Step1: Collaboration planning at the Department Council Level • Step2: Write a collaboration proposal to your College • Step3: The College will Write to the Director VSP • Step4: Director VSP will submit the proposal to International Collaboration Committee SAU after approval of Vice Rector for Scientific Research and Graduate Studies
Step 5: The International Collaboration Committee will discuss the case which will be directed to the University Council, then to His Excellency The Rector for approval • Step 6: After approval, Director VSP will initiate the contracting process with the nominated VS • Step 7: After the agreement has been finalized, the concerned SAU faculty will be notified by the Director VSP in order to start carrying out program activities
VISITING SCHOLAR PROGRAM Responsibilities of VS • Has obtained consent from his department/institution • Must pay two visits of SAU: • First visit must be within three months of signing the contract and when the semester is in action. • Second visit must be before the expiry of contract. • Must fulfill his obligations as per the agreement: • Forming research group and applying for research grants • Co-supervising students • Apply for research grants and running the research project • Delivering lectures/seminars/training workshops • Must actively take part in infrastructure development of the SAU • Promote SAU research objectives in his institution in order to attract more visiting scholars for SAU • Submission of post visit report to VSP • Submission of Annual Progress Report
VISITING SCHOLAR PROGRAM Responsibilities of SAU Host • Communicate frequently with VS • Develop layouts of the projects to be undertaken • Form a research group and involve VS in the group activities • Communicate with VS to prepare proposals to apply for research grant • Fix visit dates of VS and inform VSP department to arrange for visa and tickets • Communicate with Public Relation Department SAU to advertise the visit and activities to be undertaken • Arrange his lectures and seminars
VISITING SCHOLAR PROGRAM What we will do? • Communicate with nominated VS to contracting • Arranging E-logins for VS • Follow-up with SAU Host and VS for research and cooperative activities • Evaluate performance and contribution of VS for SAU
