Ajagbe Samuel Olushola RECSOM, Ede, Osun State Wisdom for Ministers
Wisdom for ministers is what the minister needs in order to coordinate potentials, training and knowledge for a smooth ministerial life.
When there is no coordination of potentials, training and knowledge, there is disorderliness.
Ministerial wisdom is like engine oil in the engine. As small as it seems, it is indispensable. It lubricates all the other parts for proper functioning of the engine.
No matter how powerful the engine may be, if there is no oil in the engine (at least to the minimum level), • There will be no proper functioning of the engine. • There will be problem in the engine. • The power of the engine will reduce. • The engine will soon knock and be useless
Many ministers are actually called Many ministers are actually anointed Many ministers are actually gifted Many ministers are actually skillful etc But many among these are not able to go far in ministry because they lack MINISTERIAL WISDOM.
7 Wisdom is supreme—so get wisdom. And whatever else you get, get understanding.Prov 4:7 (HCSB) 7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding Prov 4:7 (KJV)
13 Happy is the man thatfindeth wisdom, and the man thatgetteth understanding. Proverbs 3:13
11 Wisdom is good with an inheritance: and by it there is profit to them that see the sun Ecclesiastes 7:11
12 For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it. ECCLESIASTES 7:12
19 Wisdom strengtheneth the wise more than ten mighty men which are in the city. ECCLESIASTES 7:19
A man's wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the boldness of his face shall be changed. ECCLESIASTES 8:1b
18 Wisdom is better than weapons of war. ECCLESIASTES 9:18B
A leader is one who rules or guides or inspires others A follower is a person who accepts the leadership of another To follow is to proceed or go or come after in the same direction. Definitions
Problems come when you refuse to accept the leadership of your leader
Problems come when you are not coming after Problems come when you are not coming after in the same direction
Following your leader aright fetches you heavenly blessings and the blessings of your leader.
Following wrongly does not make God happy. It brings disorderliness and may lead to God frowning at you
Everyone must submit to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those that exist are instituted by God. 2 So then, the one who resists the authority is opposing God’s command, and those who oppose it will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do good and you will have its approval. Romans 13:1-3 (HCSB)
Obey your leaders and submitto them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account, so that they can do this with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you. Heb 13:17 (HCSB)
Following wrongly reverses for you 2Chronicles 20:20b … Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
God did not make a mistake making you a follower under that leader.
How you follow will determine how you too will be followed now or later. Don’t be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows he will also reap Gal 6:7
As you follow, never follow rightly because you expect a reward. There will be problems when the expected reward is not forthcoming.
Never forget your leader is not an angel nor God. He is human, therefore he is not perfect. So, you need to give room for some manly manifestations.
In judging the actions of your leader, always put yourself in his shoes, then you will be minimizing errors associated with the judging exercise.
Do not relate with your leader base on information from hearsay (gossip). Rather relate with him base on your personal encounter with him.
Do not frown at correction. Be correctable and teachable.
1 Allow your leader to lead you. Step down for him so that he can be up.
2 If you are not the very head, do not talk authoritatively
3 Always carry your leader along well
4 Take time to understand your leader and his style of operation and do your best to flow with his style. Never attempt to make him flow with yours.
5 Let your leader see and know you as straight forward person.
6 Make your message acceptable. Your message is like product for sale. The buyer will want to look at the manufacturer to know if they fit e.g. if it is edible product, is the manufacturer occultic, neat or hygienic? etc For your messages to be acceptable, • Be humble. People want to listen to and obey the message of an humble man than a proud man. • Be a true practical Christian – A Christian doing what he teaches and not a theoretical Christian.
7 The relationship that exists between you and your leader is based on what you create.
8 Your joy or fulfillment at your place of work is determined by the atmosphere you create between you and your leader(s).
9 Love your leader whole heartedly.
10 Do not be an hypocrite. An hypocrite is a pretender. He is a person with dual identity. He is an eye-server.
11 Appreciate and respect your leaders.
12 Allow your leader to be in-charge.
13 Don’t present yourself as if you know more than your leader.
14 Humble yourself.
15 Personally discover who your leader and others around you are and relate with them according to your own personal discoveries and not on what others say about them.
16 Learn to control your suspicion.
17 Whatever you cannot say about your leader in his presence, do not say behind him.
18 Be a follower you would like to have if you were to be the leader.
