  2. Directions: • The following slides list various options for students once they leave high school. • As you read through the slides, make notes of the key points for each option. • Think about which options appeal to you.

  3. an institution of learning of the highest level • having a college of liberal arts & a program of graduate studies together with several professional schools, such as theology, law, medicine, & engineering, & authorized to confer both undergraduate & graduate degrees • liberal arts - the academic course of instruction at a college or university intended to provide general knowledge & consisting of the arts, humanities, natural sciences, & social sciences, as opposed to professional or technical subjects University

  4. an institution of higher learning, especially one providing a general or liberal artseducation rather than technical or professional training • a basic unit of a university, furnishing courses of instruction in theliberal arts and sciences, usually leading to a bachelor's degree • an institution for vocational, technical, or professional instruction, as in medicine, pharmacy, agriculture, or music, often a part of a university College

Associate - a degree granted especially by junior/community/technical colleges after completion of two years of study • Bachelor’s - a degree awarded by a college or university to a person who has completed undergraduate studies • Master’s - a degree awarded by a graduate school or department, usually to a person who  has completed at least one year of graduate study • Ph.D. - Also called doctorate. the highest degree awarded by a graduate school, usually to a person who has completed at least three years of graduate study and a dissertation approved by a board of professors COLLEGE Degrees

Bachelor’s • National Board Certification - an advanced teaching credential that complements, but does not replace, a state’s teacher license; can result in increased income • Master’s • Master’s Plus 30 – 30 graduate hours after obtaining a Master’s degree • Education Specialist Degree - advanced academic degree in the U.S. that is designed for individuals who wish to develop additional skills or increase their knowledge beyond the master's degree level, but may not wish to pursue a degree at the doctoral level • Ph.D. Degrees: Education
