CEP-10 • Draft has been stable for a long while (over 3 years) • However, Control Word is not aligned with Recommended PW Control Word • Not ECMP friendly • Can not run VCCV • Special CEP MPLS adaptation header used • Not aligned with other L1 TDM PW
CEP-10 CW • E: Header Extension • R: Remote Defect Indication (CEP-RDI) • D: DBA mode (Compressed Payload) • N,P: Pointer Adjustment Indications and CEP-AIS • Structure Pointer: Offset of SPE/VT in packet • Sequence number: 14 bits (16 bits in PW-CW)
PW-CW • Flags: Service Specific Flags • FRG: Fragmentation (First, Intermediate, Last) • Length: Optional (Set if payload below 64 bytes) • Sequence Number: all values used (L1 services), 0 as non sequenced (L2 services) indication
CEP-11 CW • L: Forward Defect Indication (CEP-AIS) • R: Remote Defect Indication (CEP-RDI) • N,P: Pointer Adjustment Indications • FRG: Set to Zero • Length: Used to signal DBA (no payload) • Sequence number: L1 (all values) • Structure Pointer: 13 bits
CEP-11 Fractional VC-4 CW • Extension headers configured on both ends (no E bit)
Pointer Indications • N,P • 0,0 : Normal Operation • 1,0 : Negative Pointer Justification Indication • 0,1 : Positive Pointer Justification Indication • 1,1 : Loss of Pointer Alarm • All indications are replayed three times (this is a change from CEP-10 were VT N,P indications are on super-frame boundaries)
