  3. Objective Antifungi Antitermite Cinnamomum osmophloeum GC/MS ? New Environmental Benign Wood Preservative trans-Cinnamaldehyde (82%) (Chang and Cheng 2002; Cheng et al., 2006;Wang et al., 2005)

  4. Results 5% Cinnamaldehyde-treated wood (CTW) 5% CTW placed at ambient conditions for 12 months Non-treated wood Brown-rot fungus Laetiporus sulphureus Fungi decay resistance WL: 1.2% WL: 31.6% WL: 0.8% White-rot fungus Lenzites betulina Long-term effectiveness WL: 4.6% WL: 18.7% WL: 1.2% TermiteCoptotermes formosanus Shiraki Termite attack resistance WL: 1.4% Mortality: 83.3% WL: 7.3% Mortality: 10% WL: 0.3% Mortality: 100%

  5. Conclusions • Cinnamaldehyde exhibited excellent resistance against wood-rot fungi and termites • Antifungal and antitermitic performance of cinnamaldehyde definitely last 12 months at least Cinnamaldehyde has great potential to be applied as a Natural Wood Preservative
