  1. Labor judiciary – administrative set up The judicial administration is an important component of the state apparatus and a major functional department of the government. It is responsible for administering judicial execution and managing laws and regulations.

  2. What is the set up? • The organizational setup to manage the labor is known as labor-judiciary administrative setup; • The Chief Inspector of Factories is assisted by Deputy Chief Inspectors of Factories, Inspectors of Factories and Inspector of Factories (Medical). • The Chief Inspector of Factories, who heads this Inspectorate works under the administrative control of Labour Commissioner cum Secretary (Labour) of Government of NCT of Delhi. 

  3. The Inspectors work under the supervisory control of Dy. Chief Inspectors of Factories. • The Dy. Chief Inspectors of Factories and Inspector of Factories (Medical) operate from Headquarters

  4. What are the main Functions of Inspectorate of Factories? • This Inspectorate looks after the enforcement of laws governing occupational health, safety, welfare, work-environment, Leave with Wages and Working Hours etc.

  5. in factories licensed/covered under the provisions of the factories Act, 1948, the Delhi Factories Rules, 1950 and allied Legislations

  6. What is the coverage of the Act? • The Factories Act, 1948 applies on premises in which manufacturing process as defined under the provisions of the Factories Act, 1948 is carried out with employment of 10 or more workers with use of power in the manufacturing process or with 20 or more workers employed without use of power in the manufacturing process.

  7. Who is responsible for this work ? • The Inspector of factory is responsible for conducting Inspections and for enforcement of the statutory provisions in the factories, as assigned from time to time by the Chief Inspector of Factories OR Dy. Chief Inspector of factories of the District concerned .
