  6. Organizing activities since Spring 2009 • Several meetings of the organizing committee (theme, topics, programme, logistical aspects, etc.)

  7. Theme: Europe Through Students’ Eyes

  8. Choice of the Topics: internet poll • In the next few weeks, the universities of the Unica network will be able to choose 10 topics out of a list of 20 on the website ww.unicaroma2010.it • Strong involvement of the universities of the UNICA network since the beginning

  9. Europe Through Students’ Eyes: University and Society • What is the role of universities in contemporary society? • Innovation and education: can universities nurture the creativity of students?

Europe Through Students’ Eyes: European Higher Education • The Bologna process and the development of the European higher education: quality, employability and social issues. • European education beyond 2010: an outlook. • Doctorate and employability in Europe. • High quality universities with low fees: is it possible? • How to choose the best university to study at: are the international ranking systems used by the students?

Europe Through Students’ Eyes: European Higher Education • The European mobility programmes (Erasmus, Erasmus placement, Erasmus Mundus, Leonardo da Vinci, Marie Curie, etc.): toward the 20% mobility by the year 2020? • Formal and non formal education. • Hard and soft skills: are the European universities helping the students to develop both? • Internationalisation at universities: challenges and problems.

  15. Format • Theme & topics of Rome 2010: special attention to higher education issues • Main focus of the conference: informal discussions and integration • We expect from delegates: informal discussions and elaboration of documents

Format • Ten students fromeach UNICA membercountry (about 300 in total). • The discussion of the topicswill start at least 6 monthsbefore the conference in eachuniversity and on the website (+ Facebook) • Finalconclusions at the conference: ten discussionforumschairedby expert students from the hosting universities: DOCUMENTS • Selected students from the hosting universitieswillalso play the role of leader, writer, guide, tutor, helper.

Roadmap • Invitation to Rectors/Presidents • Selection of the Contact Persons (by 11 December) • Selection of the Topics (by 11 January) • Selection of the Students in each participating university • Active discussion of the topics in all participating universities and on the website. • Selection and publications on the website of references, official documents and documents prepared by all working groups in each participating university
