Sherlock: Season 1CriticReviews Los Angeles Times Robert Lloyd It is cinematic in the sense that nothing in it looks quite real. But it works: This is not the London known as jolly and old, but the new chilly city of glass, a place of missed connections, of aliens and alienation. Variety Brian Lowry Clearly, there are few more durable figures in fiction, but capturing the fundamental appeal of Holmes is quite another matter. And on that level, Sherlock cannily cracks the case.
Bbc history • The BBC History Magazine was launched in May 2000 by BBC Magazines with Greg Neale, an experienced journalist and history graduate, appointed as editor. In February 2004, parent company BBC Worldwide acquired publishing company Origin Publishing, who published rival magazine Living History Magazine since April 2003. Upon this acquisition, Living History Magazine was incorporated into BBC History Magazine through the inclusion of topics previously covered by this magazine and a pull-out exploring guide and through the appointment of Living History editor Dave Musgrove, an experienced magazine journalist and doctor of medieval archaeology. Following the merger, the magazine was successful with increased sales and subscriptions.
