South Florida Commuter Services • Formerly known as “Gold Coast Commuter Services” • Miami-Dade County • Project also includes Broward and Palm Beach Counties • Project started in 1988 • FY04 Funding: $1,685,000 (District 6 only) • Currently operated by Parsons Brinckerhoff
South Florida Commuter Services • Dedicated outreach staff • TMIs in Downtown Miami & Airport West • Plus county-wide outreach person focused on areas not covered by the Miami Beach TMA or one of the TMIs • Installed six new commuter assistance signs on the Homestead Extension of Florida’s Turnpike (SR 821) between Hialeah and Homestead. • 14,641 active participants (represents 62% of the total) in rideshare database reside in Miami-Dade County
Miami-Dade Transit: I-95 Express Campaign & joint outreach events Citizen’s Independent Transportation Trust: Assisting municipalities with individual TDM plans City of Coral Gables: Roll-out of City’s new trolley system Barry University: Working towards being the regional University TDM Model SFCS Cooperative Partnerships

Miami Beach TMA • City of Miami Beach • Created May 1995 • FY04 Funding: $175,000 • FDOT District 6 = $125,000 • City of Miami Beach = $50,000 • Operates Electrowave Transit Circulator and conducts employer outreach in the City of Miami Beach • FY 2004 Ridership: 751,708 boardings (net increase of 105,872 or over 16.4% from FY 2003.
Miami Beach TMA • Rebranding of shuttle bus system from “Electrowave” to “The Local” • Improved system-wide headways to 8-12 minutes (depending on time of day) • Reduced road calls by 21% (112 from 142)
Miami Beach TMA • Installed 37 informational kiosks with system map at bus stop locations • Distributed system information on a regular basis to 85 hotels and resorts (up from 62 last year) • Installed brochure racks throughout Miami Beach Convention Center
South Florida Vanpool Program • Managed by Miami-Dade MPO • Serves Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties • Time Period • Miami-Dade: since January 1998 • Broward: since July 2002 • Palm Beach County: July 2004 • FY04 Funding: $435,750 (D6 – Miami-Dade only) • Broward demonstration funding ran out – will be using state and federal highway funding to continue service.
South Florida Vanpools • Currently operates 88 vanpools in South Florida as of September 2004 • Averaging 18 new vans per year • Most vans originate in Broward County and travel to Miami-Dade County
Park & Ride Lot Program • Miami-Dade & Monroe Counties • Work closely with Miami-Dade Transit on site location • District 6 uses Transit Urban Capital and Intermodal Program funding to augment Park & Ride Program funds
Park & Ride Lot Program • Funding for projects along the busway in South Miami-Dade County: SW 200th Street & US1 and SW 296th Street & the Busway • Updated District 6 Park & Ride study to start soon
