Facts • Colonist were protesting against British taxes in front of the Custom’s house. • A lone guard was surrounded by colonist. Eight British soldiers, led by Captain Thomas Preston, arrived at the scene and fired their guns into the crowd, killing 5 people and wounding 6 others. • In trial Paul Revere successfully defended the British soldiers accused of murder, and argued they fired into the crowd for self defense.
