  3. Work Choice Progress • Announced as preferred bidder on 12 July • Detailed and exacting process to become prime provider • Security requirements • Four week delay on new referrals • Tier 1 contractors commitment • Tier 2 contractors engagement • Statutory referral agencies

Work Choice Aims • a greater focus on those who need specialist support; • less prescription and greater flexibility; • better links between elements of provision; • better consistency and quality of provision; • provision for all types of disability; • more opportunity for the customer to exercise choice and control; • a greater focus on job entries; • improved support for people in either employment or self employment; • improved progression to unsupported employment; • A greater emphasis on achieving potential within longer-term supported employment.

Work Choice Process • Referral by Disability Employment Advisor (SRA) • Initial Interview • begin developing a programme of activities for the customer. • Module 1 – Work Entry • Pre-employment; 26 weeks (possible 13 week extension) • Module 2 – In work Support • supported employment, up to 2 years • Module 3 – longer term in work support • In supported employment for two years needing additional support

Future Development • Embed service delivery with local employment strategies • Add value to local delivery by attracting additional funding • Build the existing partnership and its capacity • Forge new service delivery partnerships • Work with supported businesses to find mutual opportunities
