Reviewing vs. ReteachingUsing data to prepare for summative assessments Adapted from a previous Learning Team
Objectives and Goals CMWBAT identify goals/objectives to review and/or reteach CMWBAT create a plan for reviewing/reteaching at least one objective/goal (including strategy, re-assessment, and timeline) What will you have by the end of this session? • Objectives • Strategies • Plan So, the idea here is you are going to have a plan… one that gets them to the BIG GOAL!
Agenda • Reviewing vs Reteaching • Group and Prioritize Objectives • Discuss Review/Reteach Strategies • Design Review/Reteach/Reassess Plan
What is the difference? Share our existing thoughts with each other about reteaching and reviewing.
Reviewing… You review when students are able to: • answer objective/goal level questions independently without much, if any, prompting • discuss the content with their peers • be moved on to an even higher order of thinking with the content with or without your guidance
Reteaching… You reteach when students: • did not master the objective the first time the material was taught • are unable to explain the concepts without being prompted or using materials • cannot begin answering questions on objectives (don’t know where to even start)
Work Time • Use the following time to: • Go through your tracker and group objectives into the following buckets: • Reteach • Review • Deprioritize (at least for now)

Work Time • Use the following time to: • Create a plan for reteaching/reviewing your objectives in order of priority • Map out plans on a calendar • Include dates for each strategy and re-assessment
Tracking Reassessments • Two Options: • Create a new column in tracker to input new assessment information (as LG) and turn old one into Objective • Input students new data over old data (might be best option if only given to target class or group of students)
