Curriculum • English – Children will be developing their retelling skills, using role-play and mapping stories to plan their writing and develop understanding of narrative structure. • Maths – Children will be developing their understanding of numbers through number recognition and comparing numbers. We will also look at number order and patterns and problem solving. • Science – We will be finding out about different materials this term and comparing their properties. We will use our Science enquiry skills to plan investigations. We will also be looking at seasonal changes.
Creative Curriculum - We will be linking our creative topic to History, Geography, Art and D&T this term. In History we will be finding out about our own history and learning about what the past is. We will then be exploring what school was like in the past and comparing it to school today. In Geography we will be going on a local walk to see what changes are happening in the local area and to use maps. We will complete an information text with the research we gather. Art will involve developing our cutting, sticking and collage skills using the local area as stimulus. We will be finding out about artists and using their work to inspire us.
In D&T we will be creating our own puppets, linking this to our visit to the Museum of Childhood. • Computing – we will be learning about e-safety, exploring how the children can stay safe on the internet. We will also learn how to use our log ins and word processing skills • RE – The children will be learning about the importance of family, friendship and togetherness. • PSHE – We will be discussing our role in the school, and beyond that, in the world. There will be a focus on listening skills and group skills.
