  2. In the city of Capernaum there lived a paralyzed man. He could not walk.

  3. How would you feel if you were the paralyzed man? Have you ever felt helpless or stuck in your life?

  4. The paralyzed man's friends wanted to take him to see Jesus.

  5. Who are the people who have helped you grow closer to Jesus? How can you help others grow closer to Jesus?

  6. The men lifted the paralyzed man on his mat and took him to the house were Jesus was preaching.

  7. How do you think the paralyzed man and his friends felt when they could not get near Jesus? When have you asked Jesus for help with a problem that seemed impossible?

  8. There was a big crowd there to see Jesus and the doorway was blocked. The friends took the paralyzed man up on the roof.

  9. They made an opening in the roof above Jesus and lowered the mat with the paralyzed man was lying on it.

  10. What do you think the paralyzed man was thinking while being lowered? Do you feel that you can trust Jesus to be there for you and help you as he did the paralyzed man?

  11. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralyzed man, ”Your sins are forgiven.”

  12. How did the man and his friends feel when Jesus first forgave his sins rather than heal his body? Have you ever asked Jesus to forgive your sins? What was that like?

  13. The scribes said to themselves, "This man blasphemes!” Jesus,knew their thoughts.

  14. Jesus said, "Arise, take up your mat and go home.” The man got up and went home. The crowd was surprised and glorified God.

  15. How do you think the paralyzed man and his friends felt when he was healed? Have you ever felt that Jesus heard and answered your prayers, even if the answer was not exactly what you expected?
