This proposal introduces a mandatory orientation for new distance learning students at GRCC before they can enroll in online or hybrid classes. Feedback from the MCCVLC 2014 Survey and HLC Distance Learning "Change Visit" supports the need for this orientation. The goal is to develop a comprehensive student success structure for online learners. Provide feedback on this policy proposal by November 21. Last visit to AGC is on December 9.

Policy Proposal All students who are new to distance learning at GRCC are required to complete an orientation before they can enroll in an online or hybrid class.
HLC Distance Learning “Change Visit” (2012) In the section on “Underperformance of online students”, the team recommended to prepare and qualify students.
Strategic Plan 2014-17 CAP 1.2.3 Develop a comprehensive student success structure for online learners
Feedback Questions about student cost and content of the orientation to be determined by the CAP. We’re already communicating with the team developing the online orientation for ALL students.
