Aims of today • Explore the latest developments in emotional, social & physical wellbeing and mental health, including successful approaches to inclusion & diversity themes in schools - “the strengths and skills of the unique child” • Learn from schools sharing their practice on adopting a whole-school approach in promoting emotional, social and physical wellbeing, as well as supporting positive mental health • Develop deeper understanding of the links between physical activity and positive mental health • Learn about local services that can provide support for schools • Continue strengthening local collaborations and partnership working as well as engage with experts • Identify further CPD, training and support that schools would find most helpful
Strategic Framework Overview • a joint Southwark Council and Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) Strategic Framework for the Wellbeing of the Children and Young Person’s of Southwark • The Strategic Framework sets the priorities for the commissioning of CYP wellbeing services for 2016 – 2021, and involves all partners and agencies “Wellbeing” services Housing
Areas of focus 3. Long term physical conditions including diabetes, asthma, epilepsy, sickle cell and complex co-morbidity (more than one complicated illness) 2. Emotional wellbeing and mental health 1. Early years, better start, 0-5 years and being ready to start school 4. Reduce the number of children and young people attending and being admitted to hospital as emergencies
Areas of focus 7. Children and young people who are very over weight • 6. Vulnerable children and young people including: • Young carers • Young offenders • Looked After Children/Children in Need • CYP at risk of violence, abuse or neglect • Children with learning disabilities • Children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) 5. Young people’s health (10-25 years old) including sexual health, drugs misuse, self-harm and gang violence
