Mission Statement Our mission is to feed the body and to nurture the soul. We strive to feed the hungry, the homeless, the needy and the isolated; to offer spiritual nurture, support and hospitality; to promote greater peace and justice by addressing broader issues of hunger poverty and need; and to conduct our work in a spirit of respect and nonviolence. Bread of Life is a faith-based ministry serving the suburban communities north of Boston.

Bread of Life has been one of the top 5 purchasers and distributors of free food in the Greater Boston Food Bank network since 2001. • In 2012 the Malden Food Pantry distributed about 475,900 meals, the Everett Food Pantry 90,150 meals, the Senior Nutrition Outreach 239,900 meals, the motel food delivery 60,320 meals, and the Meal Program 61,530 meals. This represents 47,500 people (duplicated count) or 7,800 people (undupli- cated count).
3. Meal Programutilizes 37 Partner Organizations from the north metro area who volunteer to prepare and serve our evening meals which are held every Tuesday – Thursday at St. Paul’s Parish in Malden and every Friday at the First Baptist Church in Malden. 4. Everett Food Pantry is in its 6thyear of operation in cooperation with the Everett Mayor’s Office and First United Parish of Everett. This pantry serves Everett residents only, 1,180 individuals in 2012. 5. Senior Nutrition Outreach, in partnership with Mystic Valley Elder Services, delivers groceries to 731seniors per month at 13 sites: 12 elderly housing developments in Malden, Melrose, Everett and Wakefield, and (since August 2012) the Medford Senior Center.
Homeless Families Motel Meals Outreach, begun with federal “stimulus” funds in partnership with Tri-City Community Action Program, provides food, advocacy and baby supplies once a week to homeless families sheltered in 3 local motels. We deliver about 80 bags of groceries and 220 prepared meals to about 90 families per week, partnering with ten caterers, restaurants & groups.
Mobile Homeless Outreach, in partnership with Tri-City Community Action Agency, provides food, clothing, shoes, and furniture transportation for about 200 homeless individuals a year. Tri-CAP staff provide intensive advocacy and counseling for these individuals to help them stabilize their income, mental and physical health, and housing.
Goals • To enlarge our Building Fund in order to purchase and renovate 54 Eastern Avenue in Malden. On Dec. 1st, 2011, we moved our offices and food pantry to this location. Our renovation plans will allow us to expand our programs while making our operations more efficient. • To raise funds through grants and gifts to continue our Motel Meals outreach for as long as families are sheltered in local motels.
