“Hallowed Be Thy Name”. Luke 11:2. Prayer is more than just the privilege of talking with God. Prayer is God’s tool by which He demonstrates who He is. Prayer is always a recognition of God’s glory and submission to God’s glory. Prayer is an act of faith and humility.

Prayer is more than just the privilege of talking with God. • Prayer is God’s tool by which He demonstrates who He is. • Prayer is always a recognition of God’s glory and submission to God’s glory. • Prayer is an act of faith and humility. • True worship begins with the Father, forgets self, and glorifies God.   3. Demanding things from God on your own terms and conditions is foolish, sinful and doctrinally wrong. • Because of God’s unconditional love as a Father, our desire is to give Him His proper place. “Hallowed be thy name.” Recap

  4. Arthur Pink wrote: “How clearly then is the fundamental duty of prayer set forth. Self, and all its needs must be given a secondary place, and the Lord freely accorded the pre-eminence in our thoughts. The glory of God’s great name is the end of all things.” • Even though God is my loving Father, cares to meet all my needs, and has the resources to do it, my first petition in prayer is not on my own behalf, but His.   5. Hallowed encompasses all of God’s nature and all of our response to His nature. • Hallowed is not some glib phrase we throw at God. We could begin our prayers this way: • “Our Father, who loves us and cares for us, who has in heaven supplies to meet our every need; may your person, your identity, your character, your nature, your attributes, your reputation, and your very being be hallowed.” I. Hallow comes from the Greek word “hagios” • Hagios means holy. • Holy means different. • Not everyone who is different is holy. • But everyone who is holy is different. • God’s people have always been called to be aware and respect His holiness by their thoughts and actions II. What Does It Mean “To Hallow”?

  7. 1.) We hallow God’s name when we believe He exists and when we believe in the kind of God He is. • 2.) We hallow God’s name when we are consciously and constantly aware of His presence. • 3.) We hallow God’s name when we live a life of obedience to His Word. Learning to Hallow God’s Name!
